postheadericon Celebration For Success Ideas

Planning on-going fun and celebration at work, with your family or friends is an perfect way to do group reasoning flossing. These ideas have been known to improve relationships, improve creativity, make people feel appreciated, and build an invisible web of goodwill.

Most of the ideas below come from a scrutinize of the most popular ideas used at medium to large organizations in North America. All the ideas have literally been tried, and more importantly, they have been approved with joy and appreciation and have produced inevitable results for the organizations that tried them. Use these ideas or let them inspire you to customize your own for your group environment. Most of them cost minute or nothing and require virtually no time beyond informing people about what’s happening. You can weave them into your day or use them to plan a special event. The most important thing is to not just talk about these ideas, but literally do them.

Dvd Recorder

A. Fun Rituals:

1. Champagne Celebration: Maybe the office has just landed that big, long-fought-for account, or, perhaps the department has just had a effective week together. Why not celebrate working together—for any reason—with some champagne (or sparkling grape juice if you prefer)?

2. Kazoo Applause: At Apple Computers, while a regular meeting, they gave out kazoos to the whole group. Rather than applauding by clapping hands (how passé!), they hummed their acknowledgment with kazoos. How about trying slide whistles instead of gavels for formal meetings? In fact, how about asking for a standing ovation . . . Right now?!

3. Noses: There are a variety of rubber animal noses and red foam or plastic clown noses—bring ‘em in and wear for staff meetings, tough times, on Fridays, etc.

4. Laugh a Day: The corporate office of Bank of America issued a “Laugh a Day Challenge” to all its Northern California employees. For the whole month of April, employees were challenged to bring in a joke or cartoon every day to share with their co-workers. Those people successfully completing the Challenge were given a Corporate Challenge T-Shirt, and a book, internally published, filled with the best responses. [It's important to note the spirit of the "challenge" Not the "competition". They weren't finding for the best jokes to "win", but simply the willingness to participate. Thus everyone wins, even the employees who did not bring in jokes, but who nonetheless got to hear them.]

5. Thanks in Advance: Sure we enjoy and deserve to celebrate and be acknowledged for our contributions when we retire. But, why wait?! How about a party and a celebration on the first day of a person’s joining your company/organization? What a great way to set the tone and contain them as a member of the team.

6. Contests: Try these at lunchtime or at social events: Balloon shaving, Lip synch, Air band (or air orchestra), Worst Hair Day, Giant bubbles, Golf course.

7. Incommunicable Pal: Have everyone in the office/organization/division/etc. Write his/her name, address, phone number, birth date (actual date of birth for those with nothing to hide!), and a short list of things they like (such as: flowers, sports, chocolate, funny hats, exotic post cards, music, etc.). Fold and put slips in a hat. Then each someone picks a slip — development sure that no one has picked their own name (if so, all slips go back in and try again). Once all slips are distributed and everyone has someone else’s name, the fun begins! You are the Incommunicable Pal to the someone whose name you’ve picked. Over the policy of the Incommunicable Pal taste (we recommend at least three months) your “mission” is to do creative, spontaneous, fun, and enlivening things for your partner…all anonymously of course. You might send flowers to his/her home; leave a note on her desk about how much you enjoy working together, or admire her pro competence, or appreciate his contributions to the organization; or, perhaps, simply send a Valentine’s card in September with a note that you just couldn’t wait until February to send your love. The important thing is to make it fun and uplifting–and impossible for your partner to guess who their Incommunicable Pal is. And, of course, the extra special fun is that while you are being a Incommunicable Pal to your lucky partner, someone else in the group is your Incommunicable Pal, and is doing fun things for you! At the end of the predetermined time span, have a social event where Incommunicable Pals are revealed.

B. Theme Days:

1. Clothes: Hats; socks (one only? mismatched?); tacky tourist; tacky/ugly tie; clashing clothes; have Casual Dress Day once a week/month. (it’s a way to respond those “secret identities” we all seem to have; the sides of ourselves that our friends see, but that our co-workers–who, let’s face it, we may literally spend more time with—rarely get to see). In Hawaii, on occasion even the television newscasters wear Aloha shirts rather than “business clothing” while broadcasts. It’s a real nod to the playful, joie de vivre spirit in all of us; inevitable colors (eg. One color, or color family only, ebony & ivory, etc.); inside-out; crazy T-shirts; pajamas; eccentric accessories.

2. Food: Have a backward meal; notes on orange rind; hot dog bananas; use food colors to change colors of food (blue potatoes? purple pasta?); senior administration can cook and serve food to employees; do-it-yourself banana splits; glutton lunch; food Olympics…

3. Celebrate: special holidays; un-birthdays; Tuesdays; your giggling friends; standing ovations (at meetings, in the cafeteria); crazy awards (to bosses, to employees, part-time staff); a person’s first day on the job; airport arrivals; Christmas in July; summer beach party in February; helium balloons (notes inside, give ‘em away, decorate or write messages on the outside); .00 gift anonymous gift exchange; celebrity for a day; decorate your boss’ office…

4. Flowers: Bring ‘em in to adorn the office; give ‘em away with a note of acknowledgment; have a bouquet that someone keeps for an hour and then passes on to the next person; balloon bouquets…

5. Photos: (baby, pets, cars, kids) For the bulletin board; for newsletters; awards meetings; the training room.

6. special someone Days: Secretaries Day celebrations; family Day: bring in photos or bring in the family for lunch, have a lunch out; special office picnic day; Gopher Day: delegate things to people (ie, will you please go-fer this or that) or, if you come in and see your shadow, you leave and don’t return to work for six weeks; offer massages on April 30…

7. Be Kind to Others Day: (Of policy this should literally be every day!) Do spontaneous, anonymous kind things for each other—eg., clean all the tea cups in the staff room; terminate a colleagues report; terminate your assistant’s filing…

8. Excuses: Put up a sheet of paper and ask people to contribute the best excuse they’ve ever heard or given for: being late, returning merchandise, not paying their bill, etc. (use a real one, or make one up)

9. Awards: Night Each someone gets given the name of someone else at work. They select an award title and a fitting prize to go with it. select upbeat, non put-down prizes. Here are some examples of titles and awards:

o Best blow-dried hair…can of salon mousse.

o Perkiest phone voice…new phone headset.

o Most good-natured morning person…gift certificate for 10 cups of chai at local tea shop.

o Most legible handwriting… Pen embossed with their name and enterprise name.

C. On Going:

1. Humor Area: generate laugh books (people write in funny anecdotes and non-toxic jokes; bind them and distribute at the end of the quarter or year); cartoon corner; jokes/cartoons on memos and newsletters; smile more; cartoon treasuries or funny magazines in waiting areas and bathrooms; laughter cart; a laughter room; comedy library of books, Cd’s and Dvd’s…

2. Games: Non-competitive/cooperative games; charades; skits; Incommunicable word (upon hearing the word, everyone crosses legs or looks up or changes seats, etc.); treasure hunt…

3. The Great Job Exchange: Trade jobs, clothes, offices for a day. Ok, Ok, at least try an hour. 10 minutes?

4. Elevators: Smile, introduce people to each other (you don’t have to know them either) face everyone else; have cartoons on the side walls call an elevated meeting.

5. What’s Good?: Begin meetings by asking each someone “What’s going good in your dept?”

6. Joy Break Box: Instead of having coffee or tea at 3:15, take ten minutes off to do, read or play something fun (read a novel, thumb through a “Far Side” cartoon book, check out the movie pages for a comedy film to see later, listen to a comedy tape on your headphones); try to have a rule: “no-work-talk” on breaks; generate a Joybreak Committee to plan occasional group break-time interactions and activities.

7. Gad Meetings: For 2-3 someone meetings, go on a walk together in nature

(bring a mini recorder to capture ideas and decisions for the minutes).

8. Best Mistakes: Stories allot 5 minutes while meetings for people to share any up-to-date embarrassing or funny stories from their work or personal life.

9. Mural: Put up a large piece of paper in a tasteless area. Pick a theme and ask people to contribute to it over a period of time. They can draw pictures, doodles, write words, poetry, paste magazine clippings, etc.

10. Lunchtime Fun: Go out to lunch with co-workers all wearing noses or fun hats. Give an outrageously good tip to the waiter. Sing the waiter a song for doing such a good job.

11. Unbirthdays (pick anything and give them a surprise birthday party)

12. Decorate the boss’s office with streamers, flowers and balloons

13. Way to Go notes: Have you ever wanted to tell someone what you admire, respect or appreciate about them, but never got around to it? generate a large envelope for each someone at work and put them in a tasteless area. Each week request everyone to write notes of specific acknowledgment to their bosses, employees or even service providers–where you have caught them doing something right. Put your notes in the approved envelope. After one month, everyone opens their envelopes.

14. Caption Contest: Put up a cartoon without the caption on the staff area bulletin board. request people to make up a new caption that fits the cartoon. As people go through their day they can read what other people wrote and add to the list.

postheadericon The Mount Washington Valley Inns on the Inn-to-Inn Cookie Tour

1785 Inn & Restaurant- Wine Spectator bistro said that the 1785 Inn & bistro has one of the finest wine lists in the world. I saw a quaint lounge with an incredibly unusual upside-down Christmas tree with “nip” bottles as ornaments and bunches of lighted grapes providing plenty of cheer. Hosts, Becky and Charlie Mallar, welcomed us into their spectacular Inn with lovely furnishings and attentiveness to information only slightly less spectacular than the views. They offer a lovely dining room with a menu that made me wish I wasn’t so full of cookies from the Inn-to-Inn Cookie Tour! Sitting on 6 acres of beautiful real estate, the Inn offers proximity to Xc ski trails, lovely gardens, a swimming pool and did I mention the views? A large incommunicable room with a view runs from 9 midweek to 9 holiday nights.

Admiral Peary House-Although the Admiral Peary House is in Fryeburg, Maine, it is a member of the Mt. Washington Valley B&B and is therefore listed here. This Inn is the previous home of Admiral Robert E. Peary, the arctic explorer. As you enter the informal sitting room (with fireplace and pool table) from the 3-season porch, which serves as the entry to the Inn, you immediately feel the charm of this Inn. The hosts of the Inn, who speak with inevitable Australian accents, Hilary Jones and Derrek Schlottman, welcome you inside their sunny kitchen, where they seem most at home. The Inn is warm and sunny, but I only saw pictures of the rooms, as they were not available for personal viewing. Rates range from to 5.

Dvd

Bartlett Inn-located in Bartlett, this Inn is a work in progress; the sitting room floors are among the most perfectly refinished floors I have ever seen, yet most of the others need to be redone. A guest can hike, bike, snow shoe or Xc ski from the back door of this enthralling Inn. We viewed three of the rooms which all had enthralling nooks, crannies and niches. Their prices are very reasonable, but the rooms are a bit small (but comprise a fireplace).

Covered Bridge House-if you’re seeing for fancy, this isn’t the place for you; if you’re seeing for cozy and homey, it is. This Inn, originally built in 1850 offers small but cozy rooms and very amiable hosts who want to please their guests. They offer cheap rates, an outdoor hot tub but only 6 rooms.

Darby Field bistro & Inn- The Darby Field Inn offers superior accommodations as well as a full assistance bar and restaurant. Just driving here for evening meal is well worth the trip. This Inn is lovely and as romantic as an Inn can be. How about a horse-drawn carriage or sleigh ride under the moon? I wish I had dressed warmer (I was there for dinner) so I could have taken the offered ride. There is a seasonal heated in-ground pool, hiking trails and spa services available. Room rates range from 0-9.

Eastman Inn offers a lovely and welcoming entryway and a beautiful sitting room that just beckons the guests to just sit a spell. Although only the “overflow” room was available for viewing, it was a nicer rooms than other Inns I have stayed in, only slightly smaller. Lovely forest view. Eastmaninn.com

Inn at Ellis River brings a new meaning to the word Wow. The atrium with hot tub made me want to move right in, especially after I saw the gameroom and pub. The whole Inn is enthralling and sunny and offers a huge morning meal room, seasonal swimming pool, lovely gazebo with the Ellis River in the background, and beautiful guest rooms. Frank and Lyn Baker were astonishing and gracious hosts who seemed very proud of what they have created here, and rightly so.

Glen Oaks Inn is a lovely down-to-earth Inn with down-to-earth hosts, Mitchell and Linda. Linda is the baker, Mitchell is the chef, but both are astonishing and gracious hosts, even though Linda wouldn’t share her cinnamon bun recipe. The 8-room Inn also offers 3 cottages with queen beds, incommunicable baths and some rooms with gas fireplaces. The Inn sits on 24 night snacks and unbelievable Cinnamon Buns. Just so you’re prepared, Linda insists that you sing a song on your way out the door, at least at Christmastime!

Inn at Crystal Lake-While I would narrate one of the sitting areas and the Palmer Pub “funky”, they are two of the great features of this beautiful Inn. There is a unique sense of old and new here, yet it all blends together to form a astonishing Inn. Placed in Eaton, this Inn is close to all the activities you could hope to cram into a vacation: skiing, biking, swimming, ice fishing, sleigh rides and it is close to the tax-free shopping mecca of Conway.

Inn at Jackson-Hosts Don and Joyce Bilger have made this Inn so welcoming and lovely! The guest room I toured was done in blue and had a gas fireplace, that was lit on that cold day, and a huge bathroom. The Inn offers free Wifi, an outdoor hot tub, in-room Tv’s with Dvd players (Dvd library available) and you could indeed cross country ski from the back door. Rates range from 9-9.

Lakeview B&B and Cottages- This lovely Inn overlooks beautiful Silver Lake and offers a peaceful retreat in the Victorian Inn. There is a beach around and canoes and kayaks in the summer, and in the winter the Lake offers skating. The Inn is directly on the Nh Snowmobile Corridor, production it a logical choice for a winter overnight stay.

The Notchland Inn was the first stop on our Inn-to-Inn tour. Hosts Ed Butler and Les Schoof were gracious and welcoming, as were their Burmese Mountain Dogs who greeted us. The Inn was charming, but in a Large way; charming usually brings to mind small cozy places, but the Notchland Inn was large and cozy. The dining area was so welcoming, as were the many sitting rooms and porches. All 12 guest rooms have wood burning fireplaces. Rates range from 5-5. You may opt to comprise evening meal at the bistro in the nightly fee. There are minimum stays during some parts of the year; check online at Notchland.com.

The Old Red Inn and Cottages-This pet amiable Inn offers 7 rooms with incommunicable baths in the main Inn and 10 cottages. There is a seasonal swimming pool, in-room Tv/Dvd and refrigerators.

Riverbend Inn-Located in Chocorua, this Inn offers spectacular solitude with the sound of the river forever as background noise. I happened to see one of the upstairs bathrooms that must have the best view from the “throne” as any bathroom in the world. Yankee magazine says the Riverbend Inn is “a Hollywood-perfect inn, elegantly mixing art and antiques without sacrificing comfort”, which is an understatment in my view. There is a lovely deck and outdoor sitting areas to enjoy the peacefull environment here, as well as hiking trails to enjoy. Hosts Craig Cox and Jerry Weiss welcome quests into their beautiful Inn year ’round.

Wildflowers Inn B&B is a spectacular B&B contribution spectacular views of the Presidential Range and Mt. Washington. The common area offers a enthralling room with Asian accents, a pool table, a large (huge) screen Tv and all the reading material a someone could perhaps long for. The rooms are beautiful, contribution free Wifi and incommunicable baths; suites with jacuzzis are available as are the lovely gazebo and gardens. The goal of hosts Bob & Emily Koch, is to make each guest feel like their Inn is a home away from home for them. I was just there for the cookies, but I didn’t want to leave!

postheadericon dissimilar Types of Human Memory

The process whereby memories are forged into the thinking principles is a distinguished one that is often misunderstood. But by studying the nature of memory, we gain a higher comprehension in to the intricate workings of this most vital aspect of the human brain. Some correlate the human memory to a tape recorder – yet it is not so simple. While memory can serve as a retainer for key data that we want to “re-play” over and over again, it is a more dynamic and complicated mechanism. In addition to storing information, it also allows us to recall feelings, sensations, images, as well as carry out basic functions such as talking.

Since human memory is such a complicated system, it cannot be nailed down to an exact science. In fact, cognitive psychologists working in the field of memory often have disagreements. What has been established is that there are three main types of human memory – sensory, short term, and long term – plus a fourth related faculty called the working memory.

Recorder

When we speak of “sensory memory,” we are referring to the few split seconds that follows the preliminary perception of an object. If you are able to briefly look at something and immediately memorize its details, then that is an instance of sensory memory. Usually, in these cases, when you are only able to see something for a few split seconds, you might feel like you saw a lot more than you are able to describe.

Some of the data that is perceived in a sensory memory will subsequently be transferred to a short term memory. We call short term memory the ability to recall something from several seconds to a minuscule ago.

There is also a type of memory that is referred to as working memory. It can be viewed as a form of short term memory, in that it refers to the minuscule store that is needed in order for definite thinking tasks to be performed. Whereas short term memory is rooted in duration, working memory is defined by purpose. Baddeley’s Model of Working Memory defines three components to this type of memory – the verbal store, the visuo-spatial sketchpad, and the central executive, which determines control and rehearsal.

Finally, there is long term memory. Unlike short term and sensory memories, which disappear in a brief estimate of time, long term refers to memories that can be stored for a period of up to several years. Psychologists disagree on how long term memory works. Some argue that a long term memory remains in the brain forever, but this is impossible to prove, as there has never been a human being who has lived forever!

While it was once view that there was no real determining factor between what made a short term memory and a long term one, research has since established that the brain contains numerous systems of memory and that data is enduringly being transferred among these various systems. Hence, the ongoing research in to the mysterious nature of how memory works.

postheadericon Dog Collars – What You Need to Know When Buying a Dog Collar

Purchasing a collar for your canine companion requires some forethought as to its use, since there are many types of collars designed for definite purposes. Will the collar be worn to be naturally attached to a leash so that the animal cannot run into traffic or run out of the owner’s sight, or does your dog need obedience training or a behavioral correction? Additionally, many owners find delight in “dressing up” their pets with ornamental collars adorned with luxurious mink fur or semi-precious stones. Particularly, let us look at some types of correctional or so-called behavior revising collars, since they are of more definite use, and so that you may be able to more legitimately pick the item that best suits your singular needs:

Bark Collars–electric charge: Bark collars are collars equipped with a battery powered device that is designed to sense the throat vibrations initiated by barking, which then activates an electrical charge that the dog fast learns will stop when he is quiet. Depending on the definite model and manufacturer, these collars can be programmed from one or two levels to many more levels of electrical charge intensity. However, these collars are designed for humane correction, and the intensity of the charge, which is never strong sufficient to harm the animal in any way, can legitimately be adjusted to the dog’s size and weight, but are not normally recommended for dogs weighing less than six to eight pounds All bark control collars are sold with an education manual, and some models offer a remote control and instructional Dvd as well. All models are waterproof and some are equipped with a low battery indicator. The bark collar cannot be activated by other dogs barking. The device cannot be worn with other collar.

Bark Collars–spray control: These collars are equipped with a vibration sensor that emits an annoying, but entirely secure citrus spray that dogs find offensive. The spray control collar cannot be worn with other collar, and cannot be activated by any other dog barking.

Bark Collars – vibration control: These collars control excessive barking by emitting an ultrasonic sound that will interrupt barking by thinkable, the animal. Harmless, but very effective. Can be worn with other collar.

Choke Collar: Also known as a slip collar, this is a simple distance of link chain with a large metal ring attached. A noose or collar is made by slipping the chain straight through the large ring and forming a loop that fits over the dog’s head. A leash can then be attached to the large ring. In order for the collar to work correctly the ring must be on the topside of the dog’s neck. A sharp tug on the leash pulls the collar tight – the first half of the revising – and relaxing the leash loosens the collar – the second half of the correction. Very efficient for teaching a dog to walk alongside his expert in a mannerly fashion. Two notes of caution: never buy a cheaply made choke collar, they can break, and secondly, as with any collar, be sure to portion the dogs neck before purchasing. A collar should not be too loose or too snug.

postheadericon The Fine Art of Lounging

The Fine Art of Lounging

I like to think of myself as kind of an devotee in the fine art of lounging. Lounging doesn’t come easy to everyone, I know some who have to work hard to lounge but fortunately for me, lounging has all the time come easy. I remember one summer day in-between my 6th and 7th grade year when I managed to lay on the floor in the same spot in front of a teenie weenie black and white Tv for seven hours straight. It was beautiful. Never once did I leave my spot. I couldn’t get sufficient of “Password”, “Concentration”, “What’s My Line”, “Bewitched”, “Gomer Pyle”, “That Girl” and more. Today, many many years later, I still have a great feeling remembering that day. No guilt, no “wasting my life” angst, none of it. Just pure happiness. And things haven’t changed that much today. My Tv has just gotten bigger, best and is now in glorious color. Oh, and has a zillion more choices but given the occasion at a channel from 1968 Tv, I might still pick that one today.

Dvd Recorder

Back to the fine art of lounging. Lounging is simply plopping yourself down in a comfy spot and not leaving it. There is a limited making ready required for ultimate lounging. You need a few basics, any of the following pieces of furniture (or just floor, beach or grass) will do nicely depending on your preference: a great chair, a great soft rug with pillow, a great bed with stacks of pillows, a great sofa that fits you just right, a lounge chair, hammock, or blanket if you prefer to do your lounging outdoors. Lounging is not about good posture, it’s about slunking into your chair, and it’s about sprawling on your bed, ground or sofa. Lounging is having your legs hanging over sides of furniture or propped on pillows. Excellent lounging is indeed about not being perfect.

Clear the way for your Excellent lounge time and space. Get the lighting just right. Soft or dim for Tv/Dvd watching or music listening, stronger for reading. Surround your lounge space with things you love. Perhaps candles, flowers, Tv, music, books, newspapers, magazines, laptop, Dvd’s, your phone, iPod and of policy your remotes. Food and drink are also very leading elements to Excellent lounging. Anyone your ease food or drink might be, have it accessible. Remember the first rule of lounging is: No Getting Up! So we have now covered the required furnishings and space for proper lounging. We’ve covered the props. Let’s get down to an additional one singular expertise of mine, what to wear when lounging. I began my pajama enterprise http://www.ThePajamaCompany.com four years ago because I love to lounge and because I love to lounge in pajamas. Something told me that I wasn’t the only one with these quirky loves. I know now that there are thousands just like me who love their lounging and who love their pajamas. To be a happy lounger requires comfortable clothing. I love pajamas because of the great fabrics, the fun prints, the drawstring waist, the comfy tee shirt tops or menswear type tops but that’s just me. The point is to be totally comfortable. Be it sweat pants, boxers, robes, footed pajamas, nightshirts, workout shorts, swimwear, oversized shirts or nothing at all, ease is key. You may have that favourite tee shirt that all the time makes you happy; by all means throw it on for your Excellent lounge. Again, the key is ease so work hard to find what is truly comfortable for you.

I’ve discussed here the “things” required for Excellent lounging but let me say for many “nothing” might be all that is required for Excellent lounging. The thing about lounging is that for some, Excellent lounging might just be grabbing that feeling of quiet and calm. It might be lying on the Excellent sofa with fulfilled, eyes clearing the cobwebs of the day, the week, the month and finding a place of calm and creativity. Lounging can be the place where great ideas brew. When in a world of noise, stress and turmoil…the Excellent lounge might just be a totally quiet place. Doing “nothing” may take some work at first but work you must because truly doing “nothing” for even 10 minutes is Excellent lounging.

Is it Ok to nap while lounging you ask? The write back is yes. A power nap (anywhere from 2 minutes to 20 minutes) has proven condition benefits along with lower stress, cell repair, heart health, improved memory and mood. Ever notice how fresh ideas seem to bubble up after a nap? So if you nod off during your lounging, not a problem. Let your mind and body rest.

Lounging isn’t just about “me” time mind you, it can be “us” time at its very best. Excellent house moments can happen while lounging. A house Tv or movie “Pajama Day” is an event I have long promoted. “Pajama Days” are Lounge Events. Get the kids involved in planning the Excellent “Pajama Day” and see how many hours you can lounge. (Remember my record is seven.) Lounge Events promote house fun and take away a limited of the day to day stress from one and all. Desperate for date ideas? Make it a “Movie Night” a “Tv Night”, again a Lounge Event. Pull out that Dvd and watch part after part of your favourite old Tv show. The beauty of old Tv series is that the show takes you back to your childhood, the show brings back memories and fun. Old Disney movies are all the time winners as well. We’ve all had that favourite Disney movie that came along in our childhood. Put it on and sing along with every song. You will love it. Again, the Excellent Lounge Event.

So here’s to the art of Excellent lounging. Ensue my tips and you will only have lounging success.

Today’s camcorders are far more developed than old generations of camera. Over time they have improved to come to be the types of electronic handheld devices that we see today. Today’s digital camcorders description in Hd format, which is on its way to becoming the gold standard. Hd camcorders come with many features that were not previously available.

The first generation of digital video camcorder were far different from the Hd camcorder devices we see today. The first generation of analogue Vhs camcorders that were available to the group recorded media at nearly 240 lines of resolution. When Dvd camcorders were available to consumers, they recorded digital media at duplicate the amount of resolution that Vhs recorders could, at nearly 480 lines of resolution.

Dvd Recorder

With the emergence of the high definition camcorder, video clarity increased to at least 720 lines of resolution, or 720 pixels. Full Hd camcorders, which are widely available today, are capable of recording video at 1080 pixels. They description and display video at nearly four times the clarity of the oldest generation of buyer camcorders.

As video cameras evolved from analogue to Hd media, warehouse mediums changed as well. The high def camcorder records heavy amounts of digital data per second in comparison to preceding generations of camcorders. They therefore wish a warehouse medium that can cope large amounts of data, such as removable visual disks, removable or built in flash memory, and internal hard drives.

As the technology and the shop for camcorders advance, there will be more options available to the group in regard to the types of high definition camcorders that they can plump from, as we are already seeing. postheadericon How to article Guitar at Home Using Indirect Recording

Indirect recording is what I would call the “old school” method of surely plugging into a real guitar amplifier, and using a microphone to record the sound. Minimally this method requires an amplifier, one or two microphones, mic-preamp and a converter. However, a whole heap of other units can be added, for example eq’s, mixers, compressors etc.

Before we get too technical, let’s first talk about the signal path. The signal path is the path that the audio takes from the microphone to get into the computer, and what happens along the way. For example – a straightforward signal path beginning at your microphone and ending at your computer workstation may include the following units along the way.

Recorder

Below is a very basic signal chain showing how the signal travels from your guitar to your computer via varied units.

Guitar > Amp > Mic > Mic Pre-Amp > Eq > Compressor > Converter > Computer

This illustration shows that once your guitar is amped, the sound will be picked up by a microphone, then sent to the mic pre-amp, which will boost the signal, and make it loud adequate to surely use. From there the sound source could be send to some sort of eq unit, and a compressor to alter the levels. Ultimately the signal is sent to the convertor which will allow the music to reach your computer. Now, if I’ve lost you already, fear not!

Let’s take a quick look at what these different units do and how they work.

Microphone – When it comes to recording guitar at home, the microphone you pick can have a huge impact on the farranging sound of your recording. A microphone is a gismo made to capture waves in air, water or hard material and translate them to an electrical signal. The most common method is via a thin membrane producing some proportional electrical signal.

Most microphones in use today for audio use electromagnetic generation (dynamic microphones) capacitance turn (condenser microphones) or piezoelectric generation to furnish the signal from mechanical vibration.

There are a lot of things to consider when it comes to the sound you get from your microphone, not only in terms of price and quality, but also where you surely place the mic in relation to your amplifier. Whilst the chances of getting a great recording are consistently great with a high capability microphone, price and capability do not always match.

Mic-Preamps – The signal that a microphone picks up is surely very low, and needs to be boosted for it to be used with your recording device. This is exactly what a mic-preamp does. It boosts the signal to a level that is usable for recording.

You may already have a mic preamp on your computer; any way this is only designed for speech and is unfortunately unsuitable for any serious recording

Compressors – A compressor is a gismo that reduces (compresses) the dynamic range in a sound sources softest point to its loudest point to smooth the output, and can bring your audio material up to spec with expert recordings.

An instrument that goes from very quiet and very loud over the procedure of a song can be difficult to record and mix. Either the quiet parts get lost or the loud sections overload the recording.

Converters – In very basic terms the converter is the equipment that takes your analog audio from your compressor, eq unit, mic-preamp etc, and creates a digital representation, which is sent to, and is now usable with your computer.

Keep in mind that this is one of the most leading units in your signal chain and it’s well worth spending a small more money to get a high capability converter.

Hopefully this has given you a small insight into the basics of recording, allowing you to see what equipment you will need and what each piece of kit does.
